If you are bringing your car to the mechanic regularly because it seems like things just keep going wrong with it, then you are putting yourself in a troublesome spot when you continue to use that car as your primary vehicle. This way, you can make monthly payments to pay for the car and you can still drive the car off the lot that day. Plus, you may not like the idea of carrying that much money on you to meet a stranger, because there are people who set people up in this manner to rob them.

When you buy a used car, you aren't really going to get much in the way of a warranty. Some places will give you a warranty that is good for 90 days or something close to that. This makes buying a used car risky business.
